The Institute for Sustainable Development – EPLO participated in the “Riding the Wave: Advancing the EU Ocean Pact” conference in Cyprus, bringing the CoastalPro perspective to a regional discussion on how the Ocean Pact is translated into concrete action in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The conference brought together policy makers, researchers and practitioners around ocean governance, sustainable coastal development and the human capital needed to deliver it. CoastalPro contributed evidence from its training cohorts on how gamified, practice-oriented learning can close the entrepreneurship and sustainability skills gap in coastal tourism.
Discussions reinforced a recurring message across our dissemination work: ocean policy ambitions require a workforce that is trained, motivated and connected to local coastal economies.
