CoastalPro and our sister project NextBlueGen were invited to organise and moderate a dedicated Blue Skills / Blue Careers policy workshop during the European Ocean Days 2026 in Brussels, bringing together leading EMFAF-funded projects to align on the future of skills development in the blue economy.
The workshop mapped what works across projects — modular curricula, gamification, mentoring, and employer involvement — and where the systemic blockers remain, from recognition of micro-credentials to seasonal employment patterns in coastal regions.
Its conclusions fed directly into the EMFAF Blue Careers Policy Paper published in April 2026.
